Weihnachten Celebration in Fredericksburg
Annual Christmas Festival Market - December 35, 2004

Weihnachten in Fredericksburg, a Christmas Festival and Market, begins Friday, December 3, with a lighted Christmas Parade along Main Street on Friday evening at 6:30 p.m. Festivities continue until 10:00 p.m. on Friday. Saturday the gates will be open 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Sunday hours are from noon to 4:00 p.m. There is no admission charge to attend the Weihnachten celebration.

The parade features many lighted entries and will take place along Main Street beginning at Adams Street to Washington Street then turning back to continue east from Washington Street to Edison Street.

The official city Christmas tree on Marktplatz will be illuminated that evening, and the festivities continue as the Christmas Tree Forest opens in all its splendor for its three-day showing. The Christmas Tree Forest is also the location of the Gingerbread House Contest entries an array of confectionery creations by local citizens, of all ages, to be admired by all.

The succulent aroma of fresh cooked authentic German cooking will entice one and all to Heide Kempers Die Schnitzelbank. By popular demand they again will be preparing Gulasch Soup, Potato Soup, Bratwurst, Pork Schnitzels, Potato Pancakes and Waffles. There will also be wine, beer, cocoa, cider, and coffee to warm your spirits.
A large tent will contain a traditional Christmas Market to be open each day for the same hours as the Christmas Tree Forest and providing a great place to shop for Christmas gifts.

The Childrens Area will provide the experience of making a Gingerbread House, decorating cookies and candies -- all in Mrs. Santas kitchen.

Friday evening after the parade, Jeryl Hoover's Fredericksburg Theater Company will provide light-hearted and fun Christmas music and entertainment all weekend long.
